Bluebirds is a celebration of rich colour and curious creatures. I really enjoyed introducing texture into the paint surface and letting my imagination run free. I worked in acrylic to build up the textural underpainting, then worked in layers of oils to bring the rich, glowing colours to life.
To acknowledge ‘World Albatross Day’, which is coming up on the 19th of June 2020, one of the most magnificent birds to travel the vast oceans, the Wandering Albatross, is the subject of my latest bird study. Their streamlined wings, up to 3.5meters in length, help these enormous birds to glide effortlessly above the waves,
I have been escaping the Covid 19 crisis by sinking my hands into my wonderful garden. This illustration is inspired by my gardening, purely for the enjoyment of colour, patterns and floral diversity, and is a totally self indulgent creation to celebrate nature.
